Following concerns raised by Members of the Sierra Leone Parliament regarding the ratification of an Air Service Agreement with the Government of Mali which has been suspended from all ECOWAS activities, Acting Leader of Government Business, Bashiru Silikie and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Segenpoh Solomon Thomas have assured their concerned colleagues that it will not breach ECOWAS protocols.

The Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL) has created a cashless payment system called the National Payment Switch which will be launched on the 29th of April 2023. This, according to the Acting Bank Governor Ibrahim L. Stevens is in a bid to transform the country’s payment system in order to build a cashless economy.
He told a Press Conference in Freetown that the system creates a platform that facilitates interconnection and interoperability between payment channels of various players in the financial landscape.

The Chief Minister in the Office of the President, Jacob Jusu Saffa says Sierra Leone’s brutal civil conflict that ended 21 years ago has taught the populace how to keep the country together.
Saffa was delivering the Keynote address at the Launch of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) at Bintumani Conference Centre, Freetown on Thursday 19th of April 2023.
He told a jam-packed hall that the Government was committed to the ICPNC and implored all to support and work with the entity.

Officials of the Residual Special Court of Sierra Leone have urged students of the Eastern Technical University (ETU) in Kenema to dissociate themselves from hate and negative messages on social media prior to the June 24th General elections in the country.
The officials made this call during a Public Lecture with students and Lecturers of ETU in Kenema on the 20th of April 2023 in a bid to educate young people against violence before, during, and after the upcoming multitier elections.

The National Security Coordinator (NSCoord) and head of the Office of National Security (ONS), Abdulai Caulker has condemned the proliferation of hate messages on social media and vowed tougher actions against perpetrators.
Speaking at a press conference that was attended by Military and Police chiefs, civil society, and representatives of some political parties, Caulker said the toxic messages have the tendency to create problems in the country.
