The Regional Coordinator National Youth Commission South, Ibrahim S. Kabba has appealed for more support from interested parties so that more young people would be given life-changing skills training.

 ‘’ In December of 2022, we certified 270 youths in different skills, notably in operating heavy machines, masonry, nursing and other professions’’,Kabba explained to Kakua Express.

 He said a good number of those certified have gained employment at the district and city councils as well as in the private sector.

A court-martial in Freetown has convicted 24 out of 25 soldiers on conspiracy to commit mutiny, mutiny, murder and other related military offences arising from an attempt to overthrow the government of President Julius Maada Bio in November 2023.

 19^th accused, Warrant Officer Class One Sitta Dumbuya was acquitted and discharged on four counts.

 The president of the Court Martial, Navy Captain Colonel Lawrence Jabati said all six members of the board approved the verdict.

The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) through the National Public Health Agency (NPHA) and in collaboration with the African Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) has launched the African Volunteer for Health Corps SURGE training with 72 participants.

The training which commenced on the 24^th July, 2024 aims at strengthening the participants’ capacity for crisis preparedness and response in Sierra Leone and the African continent.

The Freetown City Council (FCC), in a joint operation with the Sierra Leone Police, on Friday 9th August, 2024 embarked on an extensive demolishing of makeshift shelters at the Kroobay Community in Central Freetown, rendering many families homeless.

Affected residents who spoke to Politico explained their ordeal. One of them, Lamin Conteh who is married and a father of two, acknowledged that FCC had earlier given them short notice prior to the day of demolition of their corrugated iron sheets “pan bodi” shelter.
