The Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) has dissolved the Court of the University of Sierra Leone (USL) with immediate effect and nullified the appointment of Professor Mohamed Samai as Pro Vice Chancellor of USL and other posts held by other officials.

As illicit mining and its related activities continue to pose economic, social, and environmental threats to the sub-region, members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament are meeting in Freetown in a bid to devise mechanisms to curb illegal activities across the region.
