Defence to make ‘no case submission’ in Palo’s spouse's matter

The State prosecutor in the preliminary investigation of Isata Saccoh, spouse of Alfred Palo Conteh, who was arraigned in court for allegedly possessing fire arms and ammunition at her residence, has closed his case before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie in Freetown.

Lawyer Yusif Isaac Sesay, in closing his case on Wednesday 14th October 2020, said the decision was reached due to the evidence led against the accused. 

New Sierra Leone UN Resident Coordinator pays familiarization visit to UNIDO

The newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone has paid a courtesy call to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Country Representative on Tuesday 13 October, 2020, at New Signal Hill Road.

Mr. Babatunde Ahonsi, who is a Nigerian, was appointed on 21 September 2020 by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, to represent the UN in Sierra Leone.

Babadi gives $54 million to Sierra Leone

The Government of Sierra Leone is expected to fetch a whopping US$ 54, 22,750.000 as total revenue so far from the export of timber, since it approved Leadway Company as the sole agent for the management and exporting of the logs.

This revenue falls within the period the company got its first mandate from the government in June 2018 and a renewed agreement in February 2020.

Sierra Leone doles out social safety net to 100 old people

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has made a direct cash payment to one hundred vulnerable old people under the social safety net program in Small Bo chiefdom, Kenema District.

The social safety net, according to officials, is an initiative of late President Ahmad Tejan Kabba, designed to support the aged at the end of the civil war.
