No. 2 River murder trial opens in Sierra Leone

The trial of Alpha Yayah Kanu alias Y2K and nine others for the alleged murder of Mohamed Kallon alias Mende Boy has started with Justice Ansumana Ivan Sesay presiding with a 12-member jury at the High Court in Freetown.

In his opening address to the jurors on Thursday 4th March 2021, lead State Counsel Jesse S. Tucker said that the accused persons facing a three count indictment of conspiracy to murder, murder and burying a human body in a place other than a cemetery for which they had entered a not-guilty plea.

Sierra Leone: Police officer laments over poor living conditions

The officer in charge of Faama Police post in Nomo chiefdom, Kenema district eastern Sierra Leone, Inspector Alusine S. Bangura has expressed dismay over the physical condition of his post.

In a recent interview with Politico Inspector Bangura described the post “deplorable and that with no lodging facilities for officers they have resorted to using the post as a dwelling place and there is no holding cell to detain suspects even when a felonious offence is committed.

Maritime Executive Director released on bail
