Treason Trial: 11th accused captured on CCTV

Detective Constable Bockarie Mustapha told the High Court in Freetown on Wednesday 13th March 2024 that contrary to what he said, CCTV footage did not portray the 11th accused Kabba Kamara as someone held hostage by the unknown gunmen but he was actively among them.
The witness was responding to questions from state prosecutor, Oladipo Robin-Mason on whether they investigated a claim made by the accused that he was taken hostage by the assailants at Congo Cross while on patrol on 26th November, 2023.
NatCA to host major telecoms conference

The National Telecommunications Authority (NaTCA) is set to host the West Africa Telecommunications Regulatory Assembly (WATRA) from 19 to 22, March this year. During the regional body’s meeting, the Director General of NaTCA Amara Pedou Brewah will take over as Chairman of WATRA until the next meeting in 2025.
MP complains about mining companies

Two small-scale mining companies in Moyamba District have been creating problems for residents in the community, according to the MP in that locality Mustapha Musu Sellu.
Sellu on 12th March 2024 told Parliament that the activities undertaken by F.S Mining and Shunda Ore have been affecting his people. He said F.S. Mining has about eight 40-foot trailers that are plying that route, raising dust which is not good for the people’s health.

Reports of the discovery of the dead bodies of young men at Hagan Street in Freetown and a video making rounds on social media of youths acting like zombies as their heads were being forcibly shaved, have sparked up intense discussions in Parliament with MPs speaking passionately on the issue and suggesting they invite stakeholders, amidst calls for the adoption of certain measures.
The MPs said the widespread use of the psychoactive drug Kush should be pronounced a public health emergency.
High internet tariff in Sierra Leone despite fiber cost reduced by 300% - IGR reveals

A video documentary series produced by the Institute for Governance Reform (IGR) has indicated that amidst the current skyrocketing price of internet tariff by mobile telecommunication operators, the wholesale fiber internet price has reduced from 40 to 10 USD megabytes per second, between 2020 and 2023, representing a 300 percent reduction.
