Sierra Leone's Supreme Court dismisses election petition case

The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone presided over by the  Chief Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards has dismissed the 2018 Presidential elections petition case brought before the court by the leadership of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) Party.

The empanelled Justices comprised  Nicholas Brown Marke (JSC), Eku Roberts (JSC), Alusine Sesay (JSC) and Court of Appeal judge Ansumana Ivan Sesay.

The Leader of National Grand Coalition (NGC), Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella has condemned the action of the Speaker of Sierra Leone Parliament, Dr. Abass Bundu, for “bulldozing” the opposition members of parliament with the Census Order Bill, 2021 which led to a violent clash in the parliament that was summoned by President Julius Maada Bio on Monday 19th April 2021.

Eight years no convocation to polytech-students complain

Students that have completed courses in different fields at the Eastern Polytechnic since 2014 have expressed disappointment over the administration of the college for not performing one of the mandatory functions of a tertiary institution.

According to some of the aggrieved students that have pursued courses ranging from Teacher’s Certificates, diplomas, higher national diplomas to degree programmes, the college has not held any graduation ceremony since 2014.

Man stabbed to death in Kono

A 21 year-old man Osman Fengai was reportedly stabbed to death on Tuesday 20th April 2021 in the eastern district of Kono by one Aiah Komba commonly known as Akon apparently after some political disagreement.

The National Public Procurement Agency or NPPA conducted the one day sensitisation event at the YSC complex, Freetown on Tuesday 20 April 2021.
