Sierra Leone names new Finance Minister

The vacant position of Finance Minister in the government of President Julius Maada Bio has been filled by veteran civil servant Dennis Vandi. His appointment will put to rest the debate of who was the fittest person to take up the Finance portfolio after the then minister Jacob Jusu Saffa was appointed Chief Minister. Saffa had over the past week superintended over the Finance Ministry.

US Ambassador commends judicial reforms in Sierra Leone

 The newly appointed United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, David Reimer, has assured Sierra Leone's Chief Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards of strengthened cooperation with the judiciary.

Speaking in the Chambers of the Chief Justice on Thursday 7th May 2021, the Ambassador said that his visit is part of his familiarization tour to key decision makers in Sierra Leone in order to foster goodwill and solidarity.

ACC indicts District Heath Sister

The Anti-Corruption Commission has in a press statement announced the indictment of Bo district Health Sister, Gladys Sesay.
The indictment filled on the 29th April 2021 according to the statement was based on Six (6) counts of corruption offences.

She faces three (3) counts of Accepting an Advantage, contrary to Section 28(2) (a) and Three (3) counts of Abuse of Office, contrary to Section 42(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008 as amended by the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2019. 

Man sentenced to death by hanging

The High Court resident Judge in Kailahun district, Justice Francis Banks-Kamara has on Friday 7th May 2021 sentenced one Kholie Tamba to death by hanging.

According to report from the judiciary communication unit, the accused Tamba Kholie, on a date unknown in September 2018 in Nyadehum Mabarbu in Luawa Chiefdom, Kailahun District, murdered one Amara Koroma. 

IPPUM awards honorary fellows

The International Institute for Productivity and Public Management (IPPUM) has awarded honorary fellowships to eight outstanding Sierra Leoneans for their productivity and accomplishments in their professional careers. The fellowship award admitted all the professionals in to the International Professional Managers Association (IPMA), IPPUM’s affiliate body which is based in the United Kingdom.

EBOLA Vaccine rollout begins in Sierra Leone

The Incident Manager for Ebola and Director of Primary Health Care, Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Alie Wurie has said the ministry will start Ebola vaccination for health and frontline workers in the eight bordering districts of Sierra Leone by Saturday, 8th of May 2021.
