20 million dollars credit for Sierra Leone farmers

10 Million US Dollars from the European Union Development Fund and another additional 10 million dollars from the Bank of Sierra Leone have been allocated to local farmers on credit in Sierra Leone.

The money from the European Union is under a project known as “Salone Access to Finance Project,” a five-year initiative Launched in Freetown on Thursday 21st March 2024.

Sierra Leone mobile data use is 24.82 %

Sierra Leone’s Mobile Data penetration in 2023 reached 24.82 percent, from 15.05 percent in 2018, according to Amara Brewah- Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NatCA).

Inspector Mohamed Wai, a witness in the ongoing trial of one Alpha Sheriff also known as APC Sheriff for allegedly operating a private security company without a valid license and other related offences has told the High Court that when they (police) found a rifle with the accused, he cried out saying he had “fallen in Bo town”.

2nd accused testifies in UN chancery case

Adekali Foday Suma, the second accused in the ongoing Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) case over Sierra Leone’s UN chancery building, has told the High Court in Freetown that when he was signing the contract for renovation of the country’s Sierra chancery building, pre-contractual requirements had not been met.

The accused signed the contractual agreement on behalf of the Sierra Leone government with Fairfield Construction Company based in New York for the renovation of the property.

Over 492 disaster cases recorded-NDMA boss

The Director- General of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), Ret. Lt. General Brima Sesay has in the official launch of the Sierra Leone Disaster Risk Financing Strategy and Implementation Plan at the Atlantic Lumley Hotel in Freetown said they have recorded four hundred and ninety-two disaster incidences across the country since the establishment of the agency in 2020.

Sierra Leone police chief calls for fast-track court for drugs

Inspector-General of Police William Fayia Sellu has recommended the setting up of a fast-track court in the country to deal with drug-related offences.

He made this call during a Committee Hearing in Parliament on the 18th of March 2024, where most of the stakeholders related to drug issues were summoned in a bid for Members of Parliament to get an understanding of the issue from various perspectives.
