Residents of the popular fishing community of Tombo in the outskirts of Freetown have expressed interest in the US$ 55 million grant from the Chinese government for the establishment of a fish harbour in Sierra Leone.

Public celebrates curfew ban lift in Sierra Leone

Residents of Freetown have expressed positive views over NaCOVERC’s announcement lifting the nationwide curfew imposed to curtail the spread of the coronavirus disease. The curfew lasted over two months.  

Speaking to Politico, Habibatu Jahdiel Bengeh explained how the curfew affected her business, noting that bar and restaurant businesses have more sales at night. Bengeh explained that due to the curfew, customers were always in a rush to avoid breaching the order.

Saudi Delegation to visit Sierra Leone

A report from Sierra Leone’s Information Attaché in Saudi Arabia has said that a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to meet the government of Sierra Leone in the second week of October, 2021, to plan and conduct technical assessment for the opening of the proposed Saudi Embassy in Freetown.

Gambia Roads Authorities visits SL

A five-man delegation from Gambia’s National Road Safety Authority (NRA) has completed a study tour on the operations of Sierra Leone’s road sector, sharing ideas on road management issues and strengthening collaboration between the two countries. 

At the end of the four days tour, the visiting team on the 9th of September 2021 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) to establish communication, cooperation and collaboration between the two institutions.

IPAM to hold SU election online

In a bid to end election violence and observe the NACOVERC precautionary measures, the Institute of Public Management and Administration (IPAM) will be holding its first online student Union (SU) election on Saturday 18th September, 2021.
