Watch repairer penetrates 9-year-old pupil -says witness

The mother of a 9-year-old school girl has told Justice Manuela Harding that Amara Sankoh alias Chair penetrated her child.

The witness led by State Prosecutor Oladipo Robin mason Jr. was testifying as the third prosecution witness at the Sexual Offences Model Court in Freetown on Tuesday 9th November this year.

Sierra Leone gets first homeopathic hospital

Officially opened on Saturday 6th November 2021 at the New London community in Kossoh Town, Coherence Hospital is said to be the first homeopathy and allopathic health facility in Sierra Leone. According to officials of the newly established hospital, there is a general unit, and a homeopathic section that uses natural products from plants and animals to cure patients.

Mass burial of tanker explosion victims in Sierra Leone

 The remains of victims in last Friday’s fuel tanker explosion at Wellington, have been laid to rest in a mass burial outside of Waterloo. Family members, relatives and senior government officials including President Julius Maada Bio, and Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh attended the inter-faith service that preceded the burial of 83 people who died in the accident.  

Sierra Leone continues to progress on MCC Scorecard

 Sierra Leone continues to gain encouraging evaluation from the Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) following release of the institution’s latest scorecard on the country. The country for the first time passed the natural resource protection indicator, achieving “58th   percentile of lower income countries”. 

This takes into consideration efforts by the government to protect the flora and fauna in forest reserves, in conducting for the first time, the country’s database review

MP makes case for women in Sierra Leone

Member of Parliament Veronica Kadie Sesay of Constituency 094 has expressed dissatisfaction over the pay received by women working for the Ngolaibu Cocoa Farmers Association in Dama chiefdom Kenema district. She therefore urged them to immediately increase their salaries.

Sesay who is also the chairperson Parliamentary Committee on Trade called on the company to restructure their payment scheme for the women as soon as possible. She made the observations while on their oversight visit role as a committee.

Many die in Sierra Leone fuel tanker explosion

Many people died after a tanker truck carrying petrol, which it was about to discharge at a nearby gas station, was rammed into by a granite loaded truck, and later exploded, creating huge fire balls, as people were busy scooping and filling up buckets and jerry cans of the leaking fuel along the Wellington/Calaba town highway last Friday night.
