MBSSE and partners engage school children on climate change

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), together with Non- Governmental Organizations have engaged pupils from various schools in Freetown and other young people on the impact of climate change.  The engagement took place at Saphyre Court hall in Freetown, on Tuesday 9th November 2021.

OSD sentenced to 5 years imprisonment

Justice Monfred Sesay has sentenced Abdul Gibrilla Sesay, 35, a former Operational Support Division (OSD) officer of the Sierra Leone Police to five years imprisonment for manslaughter.

Sesay, on Wednesday 10th November this year, pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing of Ibrahim Kamara in a shooting incident that happened in Wellington on the 4th June 2018.

Sierra Leone Parliament okays visa freedom with Russia

Parliament of Sierra Leone has unanimously ratified a Visa-Free travel agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Sierra Leone for holders of diplomatic or service passports.

The minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Professor David Francis, in an interview with pressmen in parliament on Tuesday 9th November 2021, said this is the first time a super world power country has agreed for a visa-free passport with Sierra Leone.

Man remanded for penetrating a minor

Justice Manuela Harding has sent Allen Cole on remand at the male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown after the State alleged that he penetrated a 9-year-old class III pupil.

The judge, on Tuesday 9th November this year, remanded the accused after the State Prosecutor, Oladipo Robin-Mason Jr. led in his third witness.

The witness, Adama Harding, a Juba Zone Chairlady told the judge that she knew both the alleged victim and the accused in the matter as they lived in the same community.

Man sentenced to 50 years for killing US citizen in Sierra Leone

Justice Ivan Sesay has sentenced Ibrahim Mansaray, 36, to 50 years imprisonment for killing a 40-year-old US citizen, Massah Kaikai in 2018.

Mansaray made his final appearance at the High Court in Freetown on Thursday 11th November this year.

The Prosecution led a total of six witnesses which included the landlord, the state Pathologist and the man who dug up the discreet grave where Kaikai’s remains were buried.

15 tons of medical equipment in for fire victims

Court refuses Sylvia Blyden’s application

Justice Adrian Fisher of the High Court has ruled against Dr. Sylvia Blyden’s application to be an added plaintiff in the ongoing intra-party matter between Alfred Peter Conteh versus the APC party and some big wigs within the main opposition.

Justice Fisher gave his ruling on Monday 8th November this year at the High Court in Freetown.

“Her presence is not necessary in this litigation for the purpose of determining the issues,” the Judge said.
