Police have arrested a man called Mohamed Conteh with the alias Osokobana in Makeni on allegations that he insulted President Julius Maada Bio and also made inflammatory statements against the government in an audio message that was circulated on social media.
This was disclosed by Police Head of Operations, Criminal Investigations Department Francis Ben Lebbie on Thursday 18 October, 2021, at the Police headquarters in Freetown.
He said the arrest was made by Superintendent Bai Kamara of the North East Regional Office in Makeni on Wednesday 17th October 2021. Conteh was arrested at the back of the Government hospital, at a place called Makama in Makeni.
Conteh was alleged to have made the inflammatory and insulting statements on the 20th September and 2nd October, this year.
Police also announced four men were being investigated for stealing 700 Million Leones at Casino Leone, Aberdeen beach, after allegedly breaking into its office.
Abubakarr Samura of Guma Compound, Tower Hill, Abdulai Jalloh a resident of Crab town, Alusine Kamara of Tourist Board at Aberdeen and Hassan Kanu of 6 Juba Hill in Freetown are in custody, after a Chinese national reported the theft to the police.
