Pupil gets 10 years for sexual penetration

Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens has sentenced Peter Samura, a secondary school pupil to 10-years imprisonment for sexual penetration.

Samura made his final appearance at the Sexual Offences Model Court in Freetown on Monday 13th December this year.

The State Prosecutor, Musa Pious Sesay Jr. led in a total of three witnesses including the victim, her mother and the police investigator.

MP fears for Black Johnson landowners

Member of Parliament, Khadijatu Davies, of constituency 110, Western Area Rural District, has raised alarm of the possible deprivation of landowners of the Black Johnson for the construction of the Modern Fish Harbour.

Ms. Davies made this observation at the house of parliament when the Minister of Land, Housing and Country Planning, Dr. Turad Senesie, brought the survey report to the house of parliament for approval before the compensation of the landowners can be commenced.

FoRUT launches strategic plan

The Foundation for Rural and Urban Transformation (FoRUT) has launched its second strategic plan with the aim of influencing and supporting beneficiaries of their various activities to take leadership roles for their own development.

The strategic plan was launched on the 10th December 2021 at the Saphirre Hall, Family Kingdom with the theme: “Supporting Communities to Eradicate Poverty and Reduce Inequalities and Social Exclusion (SURPRISE 2.0)”.

200 get state lands from public raffle (15/12/21)

In what was an unprecedented move in the history of land possession in Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning  on the 9th of December 2021 conducted its first ever raffle draw for the allocation of two hundred (200) plots of state lands to citizens.

The ceremony which took place at the Youyi Building in Freetown received 7,000 applicants from various backgrounds. The application letters were displayed in the full view of the general public and media houses.

IPCB concludes 33 cases in 2021

The Independent Police Partnership Board (IPCB) says 33 cases were completed this 2021 by its Complaints Handling Committee. This was disclosed at a briefing of the press last Friday at the board’s New England Freetown head office. In a presentation by IPCB’s  Programme and Communications Officer, Amadu Femoh Sesay , they received 41 complaints this year   and were able to assess 30 and reserve them for further investigations.

Sierra Leone FA empties FA Cup account

Politico can authoritatively reveal that the Sierra Leone Football Association has withdrawn the sum of Le 683, 250, 000 from the Government of Sierra Leone FA Cup account at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank.

This was a special account authorized by the then Director of Sports, Dr. Kenneth Brima to disburse the sum of Le 720 million approved by the government of President Julius Maada Bio for the aborted FA Cup competition in 2019.
