Journalists get Financial reporting training

Budget Advocacy Network (BAN) in partnership with Christian Aid Sierra Leone, has completed a one-day in-depth training in Public Financial Management, specifically focusing on the General-Purpose Financial Statement; Accounting, and Reporting on the Revenue and Government Expenditures; and the Government Chart of Account for journalists.

The training which was conducted on Friday 10th, May 2024, at the CCSL Hall, in Freetown was the start of the Promoting Accountability and Community Engagement (PACE) project.

Bio calls for regional cooperation and integration

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has called for cooperation and integration in West Africa at the opening of a four-day International Conference of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Court of Justice in Freetown.

President Bio made this statement at the Freetown International Conference Centre May 13, 2024, whilst advocating for a just, inclusive and equitable society for member states.

The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR), Princess Dugba has spoken of her ministry’s plan to scale up and improve commercial industrial and artisanal fisheries development to generate state revenue.

Minister Dugba while signing her ministry’s performance contract with President Julius Maada Bio said the President specified detailed outcomes to which they are expected to contribute to for the long-term development of Sierra Leone.

MCC money now awaits US Ccongressional approval

A high level government delegation led by the Minister of Finance Sheku Fantamadi Bangura is returning to Freetown from the United States, quiet confident that the long-awaited Millennium Challenge Corporation grant would finally be approved by the United States Congress this year. The delegation negotiated the terms of the USD 480million MCC Compact grant which is targeted at substantially transforming Sierra Leone’s ailing energy sector.
