The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Drive Safe Alliance, Massah K. Bomah has embarked on taking road safety messages to school children and teachers at UBC Primary school in Bo.

The sensitization marks this year’s UN Global road week with the theme: "Be a road safety Hero."

Addressing pupils and teachers at the school on   15th May this year, Bomah spoke of the many road accidents involving school children in which lives have been lost and others left with terminal pains.

The head of Sierra Leone’s Human Rights Commission has said that the Constitutional review process should be completed by the committee since the 1991 Constitution was not adequately participated and therefore needs review.

The Minister of Youths Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura has disclosed government’s plan to provide over 400 rickshaw locally called kekkeh on loan to young people,with the initial rollout of 100.

The minister was speaking at the weekly press briefing of the Ministry of Information and Civic Education hosted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Freetown on 14th May, 2024.

After 63 years of Sierra Leone’s independence and the country still struggling with economic growth and provision of basic services, citizens have called for changes in political and educational approach.

The call was made during a panel discussion organised by the Renaissance Movement that focused on the topic “63 years on: Delivering democracy and development- a conversation with Sierra Leoneans” that took place in Freetown on Friday 10^th May 2024.

The European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, speaking on a visit to Bombali in northern Sierra Leone has called on the people to pay their taxes for the development of localities.  Manuel Muller said the EU provided 2.5 million euros for projects in Bombali and that the money came from tax payers from the 27 EU member countries.

Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens, presiding over the manslaughter trial of former Managing Director of Skye Bank, Sierra Leone, Ikubolaje Nicol’s has ordered the Director General of the Correctional Services to return the accused to Connaught hospital to continue his medical treatment.

Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens gave the temporal order in the High Court in Freetown on Tuesday May 14, 2024 saying that the Correctional Service should provide update on the accused’s medical status to the court every two weeks.
