Pujehun probes pregnant woman’s death

The Criminal Investigations Department of the Police in Pujehun Town is currently investigating the death of a 45-year- old pregnant woman, Juma Koroma who died at the Pujehun Government hospital after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband’s relatives.

Plans to stop seed rice importation

The Executive Director of Sierra Leone Seed Certification Agency (SLESCA), Dr. Robert Chakanda has in an interview with Politico expressed the need for the government to discourage the importation of seed rice into the country.

Dr. Chakanda stated that the government has been importing seed rice from different countries, which he said was not sustainable. He stated that they have been investing huge finances into seed importation, but that the consignment always comes in late and the control system for quality was also poor.

FBC students' union gets new bus

Fourah Bay College (FBC) Students Union Government (SUG) has unveiled a brand new 6-seater Honda Bus on campus. The bus was donated to the student body by Leone Rock Metal Group through the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources.

100 solar boreholes to be constructed

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Denis Vandi has disclosed that a 100 solar borehole project is underway but that the process is still at bidding stage and requires consultations and education .

On Wednesday 22nd June 2022, Dr. Vandi signed the Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI) Agreement with the Saudi Fund for Development which Sierra Leone will benefit from. It will cover the building of schools and hospitals.

Tourism to Introduce E-Tourism Finance Policy

The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Memunatu Pratt says her ministry is at an advanced stage of completing the E-Tourism Finance Policy.

Speaking at the government weekly press briefing held at the Ministry of Information and Communications in Freetown, she mentioned the review of the Tourism Development Act 1990, the National Tourism Policy, Ecotourism Development Plan, the Tourism Master Plan, and Tourism Wildlife Policy as other documents that are in the process of completion.
