MP calls for report on Makeni killing

Representing Constituency 038 in Bombali Parliamentarian Sallieu Osman Sesay has expressed concern over the delay in the presentation of a report on the deaths that occurred in Makeni following clashes between security personnel and the locals over a 1.65 Mega Watts thermal generator on standby in Makeni that was to be transferred to the Airport host town Lungi.

Sierra Leone to reintegrate 600 girls

The Non-Formal Education Directorate (NFED) in the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) is set to reintegrate six hundred (600) Out-of-School adolescent girls into the formal educational system by the next academic year which will commence in September this year.

Speaker wants bank governor in parliament

The Speaker of Parliament Dr.  Abass Bundu says the Bank Governor Professor Kaifala Kallon should explain to lawmakers the reported limitations placed on cash withdrawals at commercial banks across the country.

No date was given for the appearance of Prof. Kallon but the Speaker on Monday 18th July 2022 said he could be expected to meet with Parliamentarians even if it should be at the Committee level.

Attorney General defends Public Elections Bill

Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice (AG), Mohamed Lamin Tarawally says the Public Election Bill of 2022 that seeks to repeal the 2012 version if passed into law will be for the good of all Sierra Leoneans.

The AG said this while responding to concerns raised by members of parliament during debate of the second reading of the bill at the house of Parliament on Monday 18th July 2022.

Sierra Leone foreign minister, three leaders to be honoured

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Professor David Francis will join the  Presidents of DR Congo and Zambia Felix Tsheshikedi and Hichelema Hokainde, and Liberia’s Vice President Dr. Jewel H. Taylor in receiving awards  at  the Pan African Leadership Symposium and Honours in Abuja next month.

Prof. Francis and the three other eminent leaders will be decorated with the United Nations SDG Humanitarian Icon of Peace by the UN Peace Governing Council for Africa.

NRA commits to re-strategize revenue generation approach

Two women face fraud charges

One Marian Fofanah of Goderich, Freetown appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura yesterday 19th July 2022 to answer two counts of Fraudulent Conversion and Larceny.

The prosecution alleges that between November 2021 and February this year Mariam Fofanah was entrusted with 21 security doors each costing one hundred and forty-seven million Leones (Le 147,000,000), property of one Fatmata Juliana Sillah, which the complainant, converted to her own use and benefit.
