Sierra Leone to review withheld WASSCE results

The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Dr. David Sengeh, has stated that the results of the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) that are yet to be published will be reviewed. 

Dr. Sengeh made the statement yesterday 29 September at the weekly press briefing at the Ministry of Information and Communications in Freetown.

Lands Ministry generates about LE 16 billion

The Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning has according to it officials generated about NLE 16 billion (New Leones) from January on to date as revenue generated from the sale of state lands, leasehold, building permits, penalty fees, state land survey fees, and so on.

The disclosure was made during the 2022 budget hearing at the Ministry of Finance's main conference room in Freetown.

Finance Ministry spends over LE 44 billion in 2022

The Ministry of Finance’s actual budget expenditure for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 was forty-four million six hundred and twenty-two thousand, five hundred New Leone (NLE 44,622.500) from one hundred and twenty-eight million, two hundred and eighty-one thousand and nine New Leone (NLE 128, 281.9) that was budgeted for their activities.

The budget was presented at their annual budget hearing on Thursday 29th September 2022.

372 women die of cervical cancer annually in W/Area

There is an alarming increase in deaths caused by Cervical Cancer in the country, the Manager of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Dr. Desmond Maada Kangbai disclosed at a press conference on Wednesday at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Freetown.

He said three hundred and seventy- two (372) deaths have been recorded of women suffering from cervical cancer in Freetown alone.

Transport ministry to conduct sector survey

The Ministry of Transport and Aviation is set to conduct a transport sector survey as part of their core deliverables for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023.

The revelation was made during the 2022 budget hearing on Tuesday 27th September, at the Ministry of Finance conference hall.
