4 years for wounding with intent

Justice Ansumana Ivan Sesay has sentenced 20-year-old Idrissa Tholly to four years imprisonment after admitting guilty of committing wounding his friend, Nabieu Sorie Kamara, for which a medical report indicated 17 stitches.  

Narrating the circumstance of the incident, the convict told the court on Tuesday 16th May 2023 that the incident occurred after the birthday of the victim who invited him but did not serve him food.

The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) is to join parties on their campaign trail according to the commission’s Chairman Abdulai Masiambay Bangura.

Foreign election observers arrive in Sierra Leone

An Election Observation Mission from the Carter Center is in Sierra Leone to monitor the June General Elections at the invitation of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL).

The four-person team of experts arrived in Freetown from the United States, Poland, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. Additional electoral experts and medium-term observers from around the world will join them in advance of the campaign period, followed by short-term observers and high-level leadership around Election Day.
