The former Head of the Commercial Division at Guarantee Trust Bank (GT Bank), Jacob Paul Koroma, has testified before Justice Komba Kamanda that the bank wrongfully sacked him without following due process.
Koroma, who wants the bank to restore him to his position, pay all his salaries, benefits including leave and other allowances, and compensation for reputational damages, made this testimony at the court No.10 of the High Court of Sierra Leone on Tuesday 9th May 2023.

A total of 163,894 (one hundred and sixty-three thousand, eight hundred and ninety four) primary school pupils on Saturday 6th May 2023 sat the National Primary School Examination (NPSE), which qualifies them to transition from primary school to Junior Secondary School (JSS) level, surpassing last year’s 162,068 (one hundred and sixty-two thousand and sixty-eight).

A forecast of the seasonal outlook for the 2023 rainy season by the Sierra Leone Meteorological Agency (SLMet) has predicted low rainfall across the country.
Presenting the forecast to newsmen at a press briefing held on the 5th of May 2023, the Deputy Director of SLMet Gabriel Parker said the operations of the agency including the rainfall seasonal outlook are guided by the World Metrological Organization.

A Report which evaluates the progress made in President Julius Maada Bio’s 536 Campaign Promises, titled “BioMeter 2018-2023” says Political Parties should avoid vague promises for which output, outcome, or actions cannot be objectively defined in their campaign manifestoes.
The 28th April 2023 report by the Institute for Governance Reform (IGR) notes that it is difficult for institutional leaders to act on vague promises and for citizens to measure progress.

As Sierra Leone drops by 28 positions in the 2023-Press Freedom Index published by Reporters without Borders, the Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Solomon Jamiru has promised the government’s commitment to look into what went wrong for such a fall.
