Witness identifies slain university lecturer’s clothes

A Police witness has identified in court the clothes of slain Fourah Bay College Lecturer, Kabba Santigie Bangura whose body was found in a shallow grave in a shrine-like room inside the house of a herbalist at Mile Four, just outside Waterloo in the Western Rural District.

MP appeals for boat for school kids in southern Sierra Leone

Pujehun District Member of Parliament Abu Kemokai Children in has appealed to the government and stakeholders concerned to procure boats for children commuting to and from school.

Kemokai who was on the 16th of August 2023 debating on the Presidential speech said: “I want to report to this house and draw the attention of the Ministry that for our children living in those riverine communities, they need boats to access their schools. I want to call on the Ministry to procure a boat for them.”

Sierra Leone calls for local guns to be registered

Civil Society actors and officials of Sierra Leones Small Arms Commission have called on all local gun manufacturers or Blacksmiths to ensure their products are registered in the Commission’s database.

The actors were speaking during an engagement with the blacksmiths on the 15th of August 2023.  

Youth minister urges youth to embrace agriculture

In order to match growing entrepreneurship standards, the Minister of Youth Affairs, Mohamed ‘Orman’ Bangura has urged the youths of Sierra Leone to embrace agriculture which he said is the present and future of the country.

The minister was speaking at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s usual press briefing held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s conference hall at Tower Hill on the 15th of August, 2023.

UN Women calls for a united movement of women in Sierra Leone

For women to have one voice in their activities, UN Women Sierra Leone in a one-day consultative meeting with a network of women’s rights groups and activists has called on women’s groups to merge forces in a united front that will represent the voices of women and girls in Sierra Leone.

The deliberations of the meeting were made public in a radio interview with the Organization’s Head in Sierra Leone, Setcheme Jeronime M. Mongbo, and Programme Specialist, Baindu Massaquoi on the 16th of August 2023.

Labor Ministry refutes fake job advert

The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security has in a press statement said that the Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministries of Labor and the Foreign Affairs Ministry, has not signed any bilateral agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)  for the deployment of migrant workers.
