As the fight against ‘Kush,’ Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol, and other narcotics intensifies across the country, 22 suspects comprising 3 females and 19 males have been remanded at the Kissi Town/Banga Farm Correctional Centre in Waterloo on several Public Order Act and Drug-Related Offenses.
The suspects were arrested in raids in and around Waterloo and on Wednesday 23rd August made their first appearance at the Magistrate Court, King Yard in Waterloo.
Media Officer and Spokesperson of the Waterloo Police Division, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Alieu Jalloh in his usual police update to the press, said a heavily pregnant woman Karita Kargbo of Madina Walahi Village near Tombo who was found in possession of a quantity of Cannabis Sativa during the said raids, was released on bail by the Police on compassionate grounds.
The suspects will make their next appearance in court on the 4th of September, 2023.
The raids according to ASP Jalloh were spearheaded by the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Waterloo Police Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ibrahim M Sama.
It could be recalled that in a similar raid conducted by the LUC on the 21st August 2023, 51 (Fifty-one) people, comprising 6 women and 45 men, were arrested and made their first appearance at the Magistrate's Court, King Yard, Waterloo, on another various Public Order Act and Drug related offenses and they were all remanded at the Correctional Centre at Kissi Town/Banga Farm, Waterloo.
Additionally, the Police spokesperson noted that 10 people -1 woman and 9 men, all of Devil Hole, Waterloo, are in custody for Disorderly Behavior and Public Nuisance offenses.
They have been arraigned at the Magistrate's Court, King Yard, and Waterloo.
