SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (24/08/22)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.82% and 0.80% increase in COVID-19 infections and deaths respectively, from April 16, 2022 to August 23, 2022.

Percentage increase in COVID-19 infections over the period was lower in Sierra Leone compared to Benin (1.35%), Burkina Faso (1.32%), Cape Verde (11.26%), Ivory Coast (5.63%), Gambia (2.64%), Ghana (4.57%), Guinea (2.77%), Guinea-Bissau (3.74%), Liberia (3.43%), Mali (2.05%), Niger (3.80%), Nigeria (2.84%), Senegal (2.24%), Togo (3.80%), MRU (4.45%), ECOWAS (3.88%), Africa (6.49%), Europe (18.09%), North America (16.40%), South America (12.02%), Asia (24.21%) and the world (19.45%).

Moreover, percentage increase in COVID-19 deaths was lower in Sierra Leone compared to Burkina Faso (1.32%), Cape Verde (2.24%), Ivory Coast (2.51%), Gambia (1.64%), Ghana (0.97%), Guinea (1.59%), Guinea-Bissau (2.35%), Mali (1.37%), Niger (1.30%), Togo (3.68%), MRU (1.69%), ECOWAS (0.88%), Africa (1.55%), Europe (5.46%), North America (4.49%), South America (2.42%), Asia (3.27%) and the world (4.08%). However, percentage increase in COVID-19 deaths was lower in Nigeria (0.13%) and Senegal (0.15%). Benin and Liberia recorded zero increase in coronavirus deaths.

Asia (38.69%) recorded the highest percentage increase in recoveries compared to Benin (6.30%), Burkina Faso (0.94%), Cape Verde 11.31%), Ivory Coast (5.56%), Gambia (1.70%), Ghana (4.54%), Guinea (2.19%), Guinea-Bissau (13.83%), Liberia (26.03%), Mali (2.44%), Niger (3.84%), Nigeria (2.71%), Senegal (2.07%) Togo (3.70%), MRU (5.34%), ECOWAS (4.20%), Africa (7.90%), Europe (27.13%), North America (14.21%), South America (16.59%) and the world (26.87%). Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
