Fire destroys quarters at Kingtom Police barracks

A fire accident last Wednesday evening has gutted five apartments at the Kingtom Police Barracks, leaving the officers and their families homeless. The blaze reportedly happened at around 7-8 pm. No deaths or injuries were reported but the entire belongings of the occupants were completely burnt.

Milton Margai and Eastern Polytechnic on the verge of getting university status

Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET), together with the Eastern Polytechnic, will soon be transformed into Technical Universities, Politico has learnt.

A letter addressed to the Chairman of the Tertiary Education Commission from the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education confirmed the Minister’s acceptance of recommendations contained in an earlier report on the Assessment of the two institutions for university status.

Sierra Leone to become second African country to conduct Intra Action Review on Covid-19

Police investigating suspected attempt to compromise teenage pregnancy

Police in Bo say they are investigating a suspected attempt of a family to compromise an alleged matter of teenage pregnancy involving two minors.

The Family Support Unit of the police at the Bo West Police Station are handling the matter which was reported since last week. Politico understands that at least two people were detained briefly over the issue that involves a 13 year old girl who was allegedly impregnated by an underage boy.
