Two mobbed, left critically injured in Sierra Leone capital

Two people, alleged to be thieves, were left critically injured on the streets of Freetown yesterday after being mobbed by unknown people.

The two men, in their late 20s, were found at Mammah Street and at Old Railway Line by Bailey Street, Brookfields in Freetown.

A lady, who prefers anonymity, identified the two guys to be among other some thugs who had attacked their house around 3:00am yesterday. She said they were well armed with knives and cutlasses.

New mining law ready for Sierra Leone Parliament

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Timothy Musa Kabba has told journalists that the much anticipated Mines and Minerals Development Act is ready to be tabled before parliament.

It will replace the Mines and Minerals Act 2009, and when enacted and will stimulate investment in the sector, says the minister.

PC wants Govt. Printing decentralised

The Paramount Chief Member of Parliament (PCMP) from Bo District has called for the decentralisation of the Government Printing press and bookshops either at the district or at regional headquarters.

Speaking in Parliament during the final debate of the 2021 Appropriation Act, PC Joe Kangbai Macavoray said people in the provinces found it difficult to access government documents.

MP boosts community youth

In a bid to addressing both the transportation need of the people and to get the male youth in his constituency engaged, Member of Parliament for Constituency 012, Momoh Bockarie has provided 13 motorbikes on an interest-free loan basis.

Constituency 012 comprises Koya, Dama and Gaura Chiefdoms in Kenema District.

The items presented last week also include  building materials such as 150 bags of cement, 12 bundles of zinc, paint and house mat worth Le 113 million to over 10 communities in Gaura Chiefdom.

APRM Validates targeted review report in Sierra Leone

The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) has ended a day regional validation of targeted report on health governance and COVID-19 for Kailahun and Kenema districts.
