NaCCED ends independence quiz competition

As part of the 60th independence Anniversary celebration of the republic of Sierra Leone, the National Council for Civic Education and Development (NaCCED) has on the 26th April 2021 organized a quiz competition for five junior secondary schools at the Eastern Polytechnic campus in Kenema.

Over 50 Okada riders to face court

Over recent clash between the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and commercial motorcyclists within the central business districts of Freetown, the SLP is set to charge over 50 bikers to court for various offences.

On Thursday 22nd April 2021, the Sierra Leone Police mounted an operation which according to it officials is aimed at decongesting traffic in the central business district of Freetown which spans from  Saint John to Up Gun in the east.

Sierra Leone records decline in inflation figures

Report from the Statistics Sierra Leone has revealed a record of a single digit inflation figure for Sierra Leone since six years ago.

“Key findings of the March 2021 CPI (Consumer price Index)  show that annual national inflation (Year –on –year) stood at 8.95 percent, down by 1.92 percentage point from 10.17 percent in February 2021 and the monthly inflation is 0.84 percent down by 0. 65 percentage point from 1.49 percent in February 2021,” the report reads in part.

Sierra Leone president tours historic sites in Freetown

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has on Thursady 22nd April toured Old Fourah Bay College building at Cline town in the east end of Freetown and the National Railway Museum, two prominent sites and Monuments in Freetown 

The visit is part of his ongoing drive to revitalize the country’s tourism sector and make Sierra Leone a tourist attraction center in the sub region and the world at large.
