Helen Keller International trains health workers

The Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) in collaboration with Helen Keller International has on the 29th April 2020 conducted training for health surveyors on neglected tropical diseases at the environmental health office in Kenema. The exercise is to prepare the trainees for a survey on the level of prevalence of the elephantiasis disease in the district.

Former Politico staff wins IMC Award

Our former Deputy Editor, Mohamed Jaward Nyallay recently won the Independent Media Commission Award for the best political reporting in Politico newspaper for 2020. He was also crowned winner in another category - Environmental reporting for the same period.

SEND-SL holds first Women’s Conference

The Social Enterprise for Development Sierra Leone (SEND-SL) a local non-governmental organisation has concluded its first ever Women’s Conference for women in Kenema, the headquarters for the eastern region.

The conference held on the 29th April 2021 on the theme: “Building Women’s Collective Resilience towards self-Reliance and Empowerment” brought together women from all three districts of the region in which the organization operates.

Sierra Leone ruling party supporters protest in Kenema

Supporters of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Kenema district have on the 29th April 2021 protested over the conduct of the party’s lower level elections. 

The protesting supporters took to major streets in Kenema and then to the office of the Resident Minister East with placards calling for a re-run of the lower level elections in the affected constituency in Kenema.
