Sierra Leone Parliament ratifies Dakar-Abidjan Treaty

Members of Parliament have on Tuesday 13th July 2021 unanimously   ratified the Dakar-Abidjan treaty that is set to benefit seven countries in the sub-region including Sierra Leone. The treaty expected to ease travel restrictions and boost trade between countries was applauded by all MPs stating that it will create development in the sub-region.

50-50 trains women in Kenema

In a bid to encourage and capacitate women so they could participate in national politics, the advocacy 50-50 Group has conducted a capacity building and empowerment training for women, at the district council hall, in Kenema. The programme’s theme was: “Beyond politics of men, empowering women to be effective in political actions in Sierra Leone ‘’.

UK, US warn against nonessential travel to Sierra Leone

The United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the United Kingdom have- in their travel advisory referred to Sierra Leone as a level four country, which means it has high risk of infection of the new COVID-19 variant and therefore warned against non-essential travels to the country.

Sierra Leone embassy rescues 2 lost kids in Guinea

Sierra Leone’s ambassador to Guinea, Alimamy Hassan Bangura has handed over two Sierra Leonean children found lost on the streets of Conakry to officials of the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs in Kambia.

The two are 13-year-old Amadu Barrie from Falaba District and 10-year-old Mariatu Kamara from Kenema Distruct.

The boy was said to have been lured by his friend to travel with him to Guinea without the knowledge of his parents and strayed after he had been taken to Conakry.

Bo Rangers boss meets Guinea’s FA President

The Chairman of the Bo Rangers Football Club,Babadi Kamara has visited the President of the Guinea Football Association Antonio Souare to discuss issues of football  and explore the possibility of establishing a bilateral technical relationship  between Bo Rangers  and Horoya football club in Guinea.

Babadi  Kamara ,  reportedly went to the neighbouring country to explore avenues which could be used to create cordial relationships between the two countries’ football associations and among football clubs .

Kamarainba: 10 witnesses to testify today

Justice Samuel Omodele Taylor has ordered that 10 witnesses testify ‘henceforth’ in the ongoing trial of the accused person, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray in a case of sexual penetration of a minor, that will resume this Monday 12 July 2021at the Sexual Model Court in Freetown.

Kamarainba is arraigned in court together with one Marion Arouni as the second accused and an accomplice on allegations of sexual penetration of a 15-year-old secondary school girl.
