A former Minister of Youth Affairs in the government of President Ernest Bai Koroma will make his first appearance at the High Court in Freetown on Thursday next week on a nine count indictment of Failure to Declare Assets, Income and Liabilities contrary to sections of the Anti-Corruption Act.
A statement from the ACC says Hon. Alimamy Kamara “whilst serving as Member of Parliament, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran respectively, failed to declare his assets, income and liabilities with the ACC as required of every public officer.” According to the statement “when asked by the ACC as to the reasons for this failure, he refused to explain claiming that he has been advised by his lawyers not to make any statements.”
This matter against the former minister “is one of the referral cases made to the ACC by the Commissions of Inquiry set up to investigate the Administration in governance between 2007 and 2018.”
