As a way of fulfilling what he described as “solid foundation” for every nation, President Julius Maada Bio, on Friday 10th September 2021, started the commissioning of 100 Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) with other facilities worth 29 million dollars, in four districts across the country.

African Union suspends Guinea after coup

The African Union has followed in the footsteps of regional bloc ECOWAS and suspended Guinea, as punishment for the 5 September 2021 military coup.

The AU Political Affairs, Peace and Security department made the announcement via its Twitter handle on Friday morning, confirming the continental bloc would remove Guinea from official business until it returns to constitutional order.

ECOWAS warns of action against Guinea

ECOWAS Heads of State have in a communiqué unequivocally condemned the military coup in Guinea and warned “every necessary action will be taken to restore constitutional order in the country”.   The leaders of the regional bloc who met  in a video conference with  Ghana’s  President Addo Dankwa  Akuff- Addo as Chairman,  reaffirmed their opposition to the coup by Special Forces Commander Col. Mamady Doumbouya that removed civilian President Alpha Conde from power on Sunday 5 September 2021.

Over new Blackpool role, Rodney Michael to meet Club elders

One of Sierra Leone’s most celebrated football clubs Mighty Blackpool has dissolved its Steering Committee that had been in place since 10th March 2020 and set up a Working Committee.  At the helm of the new arrangement is popular football administrator Rodney Michael.  However since the list bearing the names of persons of members of the committee appeared, Michael has remained coy on the matter.

Apparently undecided over the appointment, Michael explained to Politico that he would make his position known after he had met with Elders of the club.
