VP urges Local Councils to be creative

The Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has called on Local Councils to be creative and innovative in the generation of revenue. Speaking on Friday 29th October 2021 in Port Loko during the 2nd government and civil society dialogue, he admitted that the government cannot provide for councils all they needed.

Sierra Leone targets school children on alcohol prevention

The Directorate of the Non Communicable Diseases and Mental Health in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) has in collaboration with partners held a consultative meeting with school children in  the Western Area on a policy that will help prevent children from alcohol and minimize its consumption among other young people.

The consultative meeting was aimed at encouraging government to develop a policy that will make sure there are measures in place to put a stop to alcohol consumption.

Sierra Leone opposition parties walk out of Parliament as NEC commissioner is approved

The Parliament of Sierra Leone has approved the Presidential nominee  for the position of  National Electoral Commissioner for Western Region, Zainab Umu Moseray, despite objections by opposition party members.  All People’s Congress (APC), National Grand Coalition (NGC) and some figures representing Coalition for Change (C4C), walked out of the House in protest. They complained of not being consulted over the woman’s nomination for the job.
