COI: Court orders Registrar

The Court of Appeal in Freetown has ordered the Master and Registrar of the High Court to make available copies of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) hearings related to Dr. Richard Konteh, a former Minister and Chief of Staff in the past All People’s Congress APC government.

Court of Appeal Judge, Justice Ivan Sesay made the order on Wednesday 24th November this year.

No budget approval for absentee MDAs

The Acting Speaker of Parliament, Segenpoh Solomon Thomas, has given a ruling that parliament will not approve the budget of any government office that fails to send representative to parliament during the 2022 budget debate.

This came as a result of the conspicuous absence of officials that should have represented Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) at the start of debate over the 2022 budget that was presented to the house by Finance Minister Dr. Dennis Vandi on Friday 19th November, 2021.

Bread scarcity hits eastern Sierra Leone

The Kenema Bakers Union has gone for days without producing bread for sale to the public citing an increase in the price of a bag of flour.

In an interview with Politico, the Public Relations officer of the Union in Kenema, Aruna   Domingo said they were also not happy about the prevailing situation but that they are forced by the spate of inflation in the market.

MRU to engage leaders of CNRD in Guinea

Member States of the Mano River Union (MRU) have in a Joint Communique signed, agreed to Maintain Diplomatic Peace, Security and Democracy in the Sub-region and resolved to engage leaders of the National Committee for Reconciliation and Development in Guinea as well as ECOWAS in order to develop a framework for the return to constitutional rule. 

The resolution was reached at a two-day Diplomatic Peace and Security Conference in Liberia held on the 22-23rd of November 2021.

Kenema Council presents new EU projects

Kamarainba’s co-accused released

The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has released Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray’s co-accused, Marion Arouni after meeting the required bail conditions on Wednesday 24th November this year.

Arouni was charged together with former Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) 2018 election’s Presidential Candidate, Mansaray on allegations of sexual penetration with a minor last year.

Arouni was brought before the Court to answer to 2 Counts of Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting.
