Mechanic gets 15 years for sexual penetration

Justice Manuela Harding has sentenced 35-year-old mechanic, Muctarr Jalloh to fifteen years imprisonment for sexually penetrating a 13-year-old girl.

Jalloh was arraigned for the last time on Thursday 30th November this year at the Sexual Offences Model Court in Freetown.

Progress was made on the matter after the prosecution applied for evidence at the Magistrate Court to be used at the High Court.

Sierra Leone spends more than it earns -says KKY

The Leader of National Grand Coalition (C4C) in Parliament, Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella (KKY), of Constituency 062, Kambia district, has said in Parliament that from 2018 to 2021, Sierra Leone has continuously spent  more than what it generates.

The budget also known as the appropriation act in parliamentary term, authorize the government’s expenditure from the consolidated fund for the services of Sierra Leone and other related matters.

Special Court swears in 2 judges

The Residual Special Court of Sierra Leone has sworn in Supreme Court Judge, Justice Alusine Sesay and Court of Appeal Judge, Justice Tonia Barnett as Judges of the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone on Tuesday 30th November this year at the Special Court Peace Museum in Freetown.

The two newly appointed judges made their declarations before Justice Jon Kamanda, President of the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone.

Town chief confesses to killing

Police at the Criminal Investigation Department in Kenema are currently investigating the town chief of Kambema village, Dama chiefdom who reported himself at their headquarters for allegedly killing his brother in September this year in a bush.

According to the Regional Crime officer east, Sergeant Lansana Jajua, on the  13th of November, 2021 the town chief Kannie Musa Juhu handed himself over to them together with a shotgun and confessed to have been responsible for the death of one  Vandi Konneh.

Police allegedly penetrates suspect in custody

Police Constable 19259 Augustine Dauda attached to the Pujehun Police Division has been accused of penetrating a female suspect who was under custody. The divisional Media and Communications Officer ASP Kenewa John Square confirmed to Radio Wanjei in Pujehun town about the case which he said is under investigation.

Square explained how on the 12th November 2021, the suspect who is in her late teens had told them that Dauda sexually penetrated her. He however stopped short of giving further details.
