Senior   lecturer of the Mass Communications Department at FBC and Chairman of the Media Reform Coordinating Group MRCG Dr. Francis Sowa has described the contributions of Dr. Ibrahim Seaga Shaw to both academia and Journalism as prolific and unmatchable.

He made the statement at the launch of the book authored by Dr. Ibrahim Seaga Shaw titled: Media, Conflict and Peace building in Africa; conceptual and empirical consideration, at the Sierra Leone Library Board hall in Freetown.

$ 1 million support for Freetown Mayor’s Office

The Freetown Mayor’s Office has become one of the latest recipients of a grant of One Million Dollars by the Bloomberg Philanthropies after successfully fulfilling the criteria set out in the Mayors Challenge.  The Freetown Mayor’s office is among 15 cities that received the award on Tuesday 18th January 2022.  The award began some nine years ago to support and recognize city council leaders around the world with innovative ideas.

Woman in Police Net for Cruelty to Girl, 8

Police attached to the Family Support Unit in Kenema division are currently investigating a woman Baindu Kowa of the Loko town section in Kenema for beating up brutally an 8-year-old girl believed to be her niece.

According to reports, the suspect who is a petty trader on the 12th January 2022 gave items to the girl to sell. The girl after hawking returned home and as instructed by Kowa handed over the money to the suspect’s son named Ishmael for safe-keeping.
