Over 70% of Kush users to be sent to schools

The National Coordinator -National Task Force on Drugs and Substance Abuse, Dr. Foday Sahr has disclosed that over 70% of Kush users will be sent to school or be empowered for job opportunities.

He was giving updates on the activities of his office at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s press briefing hosted at the Foreign Affairs conference hall in Freetown on 7th of May this year.

80% of Kush availability to be reduced

In order to control the addictive substance Kush in the country, the country’s National Coordinator of the Task Force on Drug and Substance Abuse Professor Foday Sahr has committed to reducing the availability of kush by over 80% in one year period.

He made the statement whilst addressing the media at the Ministry of Information and Civil Education’s Weekly Press Conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Freetown on May 7, 2024.

Over two million Sierra Leoneans have received legal aid

The Executive Director of Legal Aid Board of Sierra Leone Fatmata Claire Carlton-Hanciles says they have given accessible and affordable legal support to over two million Sierra Leoneans, cutting down the workload on the courts.

She made the statement whilst addressing the media at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s Weekly Press Conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Freetown on May 7, 2024.

Police update media on LAJ, Mayor Saga

The Regional media officer East attached to the Community Relations Department (CRD) of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Inspector Prince Bernard Jaygboi Kamara has updated journalists in Kenema in connection with the matter involving popular musician Alhaji Amadu Bah, stage name LAJ and the Mayor of Kenema City, Thomas Karim  Baio.

LAJ was reported for alleged larceny, riotous conduct, assault on the mayor and police officers in performing their constitutional duties.

Trocaire trains over 30 journalists on gender inclusivity

Trocaire, with support from USAID, has trained over thirty journalists on inclusivity and gender sensitivity.

The training which took place at the Royal Hotel in Makeni on the 7th of May 2024 saw the convergence of journalists from different regions across the country.

Commemorating Europe Day, EU delegation to interact with Project beneficiaries

 

As the European Union Delegation in Sierra Leone Commemorate Europe Day on the 9th of May this year, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development officially launches the EU Boss tour across Sierra Leone.

The tour according to the officials will see a delegation of both the European Union and the government of Sierra Leone officials visit project sites and interact with beneficiaries to know the impact of the project on the lives of the people and the country as a whole.
