Mamaikanu village lights up in decades

Since the establishment in over a century, Mamaikanu village in Maforke Chiefdom in Port Loko district lights up with solar powered electricity with funding support from the Embassy of Ireland in Sierra Leone.

The project implemented by the Social Enterprises Development (SEND) in partnership with Easy Solar through Trocaire allows community members in hard to reach communities to use and access electricity at a low cost and pay overtime with limited pressure from the service providers.

Germany boosts agriculture in northern Sierra Leone

Foreign Ministry to upgrade foreign relations strategy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy M. Kabba in the performance contract signed with President Julius Maada Bio promised to upgrade foreign relations strategy to promote Sierra Leone’s socio-political, economic, and strategic interests.

Minister Kabba also promised in the contract a higher quality representation in foreign missions as well as increasing foreign direct investments and partnerships; increased flow of foreign aid and private investment to the country.

26 children among alleged food poisoning victims

A suspected food poisoning incident in the Marbella community in Freetown over the weekend has left some 80 people seeking urgent treatment at Connaught Hospital, 26 of them children, according to the facility’s Care Manager , Dr. Mack Kapuwa. Two were said to be in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit.
