Parliament creates new committee to monitor bills

The Speaker of Parliament Segepoh Solomon Thomas has given a stern warning to those who tamper with enacted bills to desist from such unlawful act and instructed the Deputy Speaker Ibrahim Tawa Conteh to form a Special Select Committee that will be charged with the responsibility of ensuring such a practice is curtailed.

He emphasized that parliament will impose prison sentences on any individual who tampers with bills that have been enacted.

26 children among alleged food poisoning victims

A suspected food poisoning incident in the Marbella community in Freetown over the weekend has left some 80 people seeking urgent treatment at Connaught Hospital, 26 of them children, according to the facility’s Care Manager , Dr. Mack Kapuwa. Two were said to be in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit.

ActionAid hands over State-of-the-art school buildings

As part of ActionAid’s development and humanitarian outreach programmes, the organisation on Thursday 16th May, 2024 handed over a furnished  six classroom state-of-the-art school building to the people of Yogborfore village and a three classroom school building to the Islamic Call Society Primary School, Mosankone village, Kargboro Chiefdom in Moyamba District.

The Classrooms are equipped with furniture and learning materials
