Sierra Leone promotes 23 senior military officers

23 officers of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) have been promoted to senior ranks at a special ceremony at the newly constructed Myohaung Officers Mess, Wilberforce Barracks in Freetown.

The newly promoted Colonels are,Dennis Kpademba,  L K Jabati,  Hassan Jansson Conteh,  William Pessima,  Edward Lambi Smart,Mohamed Alie Kamara,  Samuel Bob Farmar, Issa Bangura, and  Alimamy Taylor Kamara.

Residents of power blackout-hit areas in Kenema vent out anger

Residents along Dama road, Kamara Town Section, Tokpombu and Kpetema section in Kenema have expressed dissatisfaction over the unaddressed power outage that they claim is as a result of lack of action by the Electricity Distribution and Supply Agency (EDSA) to replace a faulty transformer that was transmitting power to the communities.

They have threatened to protest against EDSA in Kenema for depriving them of electricity supply for over three months now.

30 families homeless after fire at Kingtom

A fire outbreak which occurred at Kingtom in the West of Freetown near a dumpsite at 7pm on the 5th November, 2022, has left some 30 families homeless.

Speaking to Politico, a distraught-looking mechanic named Abu Mansaray said eleven vehicles brought to his garage by customers for servicing were all burned.

CARL launches electoral justice report

Sierra Leone’s First Lady urges tough laws to curb child exploitation

Sierra Leone’s First Lady Fatima Bio has called for the enhancement of laws to protect children against sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and violence and for perpetrators of such acts to face justice. She made the statement at the 77th session of the UN Assembly on the 8th November 2022.

She explained that children should be protected in every space, whether at home, online or in their communities and asked that they should find ways of elevating the voices of victims in order to eradicate stigma.
