State allocates Le 349.5 Billion for Sierra Leone’s 2023 election

The Government of Sierra Leone has allocated the sum of Le 349.5 billion to the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) for the 2023 elections. This revelation was made by the Minister of Finance, Dennis K. Vandi during the first reading of the bill entitled The Appropriation Act 2023 on the 11th November 2022.

Vandi explained that government was allocating the sum from the recurrent budget, as one of government’s priorities in the 2023 budget.

PPRC invites Elders of Sierra Leone main opposition party

Man jailed for beating his grandmother

Magistrate Hadiru Daboh of Ross Road Court No. 3 in Freetown has sentenced Ibrahim Bangura better known as SLA to one year imprisonment after he was found guilty of beating up his grandmother, Mama Rita Bainda.

Bangura was standing trial on one count of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

The prosecution alleged that the accused on Tuesday 31st May 2022 at No. 58 Wright Street, Wellington, Freetown, assaulted Bainda in a manner thereby occasioning actual bodily harm.

1 sentenced for rape, 1 other discharged

32-year-old Charles Bao is to serve 10 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of sexually penetrating a 13-year-old school girl.

The accused, Bao, was before High Court Judge,Alhaji Momoh-Jah Stevens  charged with Sexual Penetration contrary to  the Sexual Offences Act.

It was alleged that the accused on the 12th June 2021 in Freetown engaged in an act of sexual intercourse with the child.

Upon his arraignment, Bao denied the allegations levelled on him.

Torma Bum rice project on course – says Coordinator
