‘Thaimu On The Road’ to focus on transportation

A newly- elected Councilor in Western Area Urban, Thaimu Turay alias ‘Thaimu on the road’, of the governing Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has said he will focus on advocating for transportation issues in Freetown during his five-year tenure in the council.

The 59-year-old councilor elect told Politico about his objective in the council in an interview conducted at his Dwazark, Freetown residence on Wednesday 12 July 2023.

Boycotting Sierra Leone MPs to lose pension

The Clerk of Parliament Umar Paran Tarawally has said that any elected Member of Parliament who does not attend the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow stands to lose their pension as stated by the newly enacted Parliament Act of 2023.

“If you fail to take an oath on Thursday, it means you have not done one term. So you are not qualified for pension”.

Woman mutilated in Waterloo, outside Sierra Leone capital

 59-year-old Kadie Hassan’s lifeless body was found under her bedroom mattress at her Bofla Community residence between Benguema Road and Fulla Town in Waterloo, in the Western Rural Area.

According to police officers at the Waterloo division, the deceased woman was found with her two ears mutilated and her feet tied, with lacerations all over her body.

Boy, 12, drowns at Masorie Village

The body of a twelve year- old boy Morali Fofana has been found at Pa Morlai Wharf in Masorie Village, on the outskirts of Waterloo.

The incident reportedly took place on Sunday 9th July 2023 after the boy together with his three friends went swimming that day.
