Corpse of ‘gambler’ found in Waterloo

By Chernor Alimamy Kamara

Following  discoveries days apart, last week, of an unidentified adult male corpse and  59 year- old Kadie Hassan’s lifeless body under a mattress at her home, Police in Waterloo have again found the partially decomposed corpse of a “notorious three-card gambler” popularly called PM.

His decomposed corpse was discovered at a place called Kakapo in the Lumpa community of Waterloo. The police said they were told he died of natural causes. Also, the police confirmed that PM’s friends raised money for his burial, but disappeared with it.

In another development, a 21-year-old man Baimba Tarawallie of Furniture Junction, Mayemi Garage, Allen Town, Freetown is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Tombo Health Centre, Waterloo. According to the police, three (3) limes lodged inside his anus were removed.

Tarawallie was found in a bush at Russell village along the Tombo-Waterloo highway with wounds all over his body, bound, and his mouth gagged. He was reportedly “dumped by unknown men after he was severely beaten’’. The village Headman Paul Gordon narrated to police how he saw a vehicle pull up and men climbed down and dropped something in the bush, before driving off. He said it was dark but could see the activity from his verandah. He said he thought it was garbage that they had dumped but out of curiosity took his torchlight and went to the spot, where he found the man. He then called the Tombo police for help. The victim told police his assailants thought he had died.

"They dumped him here to portray a bad image of Russell Village. We will support the Police to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice," Gordon said.

Media Officer and Spokesperson of the Waterloo Police Division, Assistant Superintendent Alieu Jalloh told Politico that Tarawallie is still alive and is presently with the police for safety reasons.

He noted that Tarawallie was accused of stealing which led to the insertion of limes into his anus. The officer said two people are in police custody in connection with the incident.

"Most of the corpses found in Waterloo were people killed in other places who are then dumped in Waterloo to portray our town in a bad way. By the grace of God, these wicked people will be exposed’’, a woman resident of Waterloo was quoted saying in a Police update.

In another update by the police, 13-year-old boy Abdul Razak Kamara of Matainkay Village, Waterloo, was reported to have drowned at “San San Water”, Matainkay, in a swimming trip with his peers that went tragically wrong. The incident took place on the 17th of July 2023.

Similarly, a 3-year-old boy, Osman Bangura of Monkey Bush, Waterloo, drowned inside unprotected water well near his home.
