Fire Force building blaze under investigation- fire chief

The Bo Fire Force Chief, Rev. Emmanuel Morseray has told Politico that cause(s) of the blaze that engulfed their office building past Sunday is being investigated.

The officer confirmed having informed the National Headquarters in Freetown and that personnel will be assigned to find out what went wrong.

He said he was not in town at the time of the incident happened, but has been briefed by his personnel on his return. 

MPs want new minister to upgrade security

Members of Parliament have called on the new Minister of Internal Affairs Major-General Retired David T. O. Taluva to ensure that porous borders are well secured in a bid to stop smuggling of drugs and weapons into the country. 

Paramount Chief Cyril Gondor Foray II from Kailahun District called on the newly- approved Minister to make sure that he upgrades security within the country and the borders with other countries.

University of Sierra Leone partners with Mercy Ships on Dental Education

The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sierra Leone (USL), Brig. Gen. Prof. Foday Sahr on Monday, 24th July 2023 signed a “Memorandum of Agreement” with the Country Director of the faith-based international non-profit charitable organization, Mercy Ships.

The thrust of the agreement is the training of healthcare professionals in the area of dental education.

Sierra Leone passport ranked second in West Africa

Sierra Leone’s passport has been rated second in the West Africa region after the Gambia and 72 in the 2023 global passport rating index.

Sierra Leone scaled up to ten places from 83 in 2022 to 74, placing it ahead of Ghana then at 82 and now rated 76, while maintaining its place as the lead in the Mano River Union (MRU), according to the Henley Passport Index Report released last week.
