To help foster National Reconciliation across post-election Sierra Leone, the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) has brought together representatives of various sectors in the country to discuss policies and initiatives that will help enhance peace.

ONS engages political parties on peace

The Office of National Security (ONS) has ended a post-election peace and social cohesion dialogue with political parties, security sector, Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) and other players in the Election Management Bodies (EMBs).

The engagement took place at the Kenema City Hall, Maada Bio Street in Kenema on the 26th July, 2023.

The Speaker of Sierra Leone’s Parliament, Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu says walk-outs and boycotts have lost their value and relevance in this 21st Century.

Dr. Bundu’s statement in Parliament on Monday 24th July 2023 was directed at the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) whose Members of Parliament have boycotted sittings of the Sixth Parliament, since the announcement of the June General Elections, because of what the party alleged were irregularities in the polls.

Bo pistol suspect and eight others in court

A 47-Year-old Farmer, Alpha Sheriff of No.1 Sheriff Drive, Kamabai town in Bombali District, has appeared before a magistrate court in Freetown for unlawful possession of a grey and black Taurus Armas Revolver Pistol in Kebbie town Bo District.

The accused is also charged with unlawful concealment of the same gun on 7th June this year.

Sheriff, first accused, was among nine men that appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on Tuesday 25 July 2023, facing various charges.

ECOWAS MPs want political inclusivity

In order to strengthen the political affairs, peace, justice system, human Rights, Gender and Women Empowerment in the sub-region, the ECOWAS Members of Parliament (MPs) have called for political inclusivity in all ECOWAS Member States.

The ECOWAS MPs made this call during the opening session of a Delocalized meeting of the joint Committee held in Monrovia, Liberia on the 25th July, 2023.

ECSL reasserts that June election was free and fair

FAO Supports 1500 vegetable producers in SIerra Leone

In an effort to ensure food security in Sierra Leone, the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO)  in Sierra Leone has supported 1,500 vegetable producers with tools and seedlings.
The farmers were mostly women and youths, drawn from 5 districts.
