A Magistrate in Freetown has committed four accused, one being a minor, to High Court over various counts including robbery with aggravation.
The accused are Christopher John known as Arkor the teen first accused, Osman Tarawalie alias 5-4, Mohamed Bai Kamara nicknamed Alkaline, and Ibrahim Koroma alias Dino second, third, and fourth accused respectively.
The presiding Magistrate, Mark Ngegba at the Pademba Road Court No.1 on Tuesday 1st August 2023 noted that there was enough evidence for the case to be tried in high court.
Before committing the case to the high court, the prosecution team- Police Inspector TAP Sellu, and Lawyer C B Davies led in their witness, Detective Sergeant Idrissa Kamara from the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters who tendered $502 (United States Dollars), one gold wristwatch, a knife, one Samsung Mobile Phone and a driver’s license as exhibits.
The accused faced eight counts ranging from robbery with aggravation, assault, and wounding to wounding with intent.
The court learned that on Tuesday 7th March 2023, the accused used a machete and knife, and robbed Cecilia Coker at 89 Newcastle Street in Kissy, Eastern Freetown of one driver’s license, cash of Five hundred and Fifty New Leones (Nle 550) and other items with a total worth of thirty-eight thousand three hundred and sixty-six New Leones (38,366).
They are also accused of robbing Adetunji Wilson Taylor, also of the same address; the same night robbed him of one S20 Samsung mobile phone, one Dell computer laptop, and other properties with a total value of ninety thousand three hundred and eighty-six New Leones (Nle 90,386).
The accused are also allegedly wounded, Abu Bakarr, a neighbour of the victims, who attempted to confront them on the night of the incident.
The accused are also said to have assaulted the victims they robbed.
