A State prosecutor has told the jury in ongoing treason trial that they have proved beyond reasonable doubt for the two counts on treason, six counts on murder and one count on shooting with intent to kill levied against Amadu Koita Makalo.

Yeanor Kabia, one of the presidential candidates in the upcoming Sierra Leone Reporters Union Election, has during the launch of her campaign manifesto, promised to improve the welfare of union members.

At the unveiling ceremony of her manifesto titled: “Rebranding Reporters Union” in Freetown on Wednesday 17th July, 2024, she promised to engage media owners and managers on the issue of salary for reporters especially those who have been volunteering for six months and over.

The suspended Auditor General of the Audit Service Sierra Leone, Lara Taylor-Pearce has, in a press statement dated 14th July 2024, accused the Supreme Court of depriving her to publicly defend herself, against what she said were allegations against her.

Taylor-Pearce in the press statement was reacting to a  release from the Office of the Press Secretary at State House which gave directives to the Attorney- General and Minister of Justice to initiate the necessary procedure for the removal of the suspended Auditor General.

Parliament on Tuesday July 16 approved nine presidential nominees for various positions ranging from Ambassadors, High Commissioners, board members and heads of parastatals, among them, Daniel Kaitibie who now moves to the position of Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration.

The Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray has said his ministry and the Sierra Leone Labour Congress are working to ensure that the minimum wage which is 800 Leones be improved  to meet the economic challenges employees face.

Swaray made this statement at the government’s weekly press conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conference room on July 16, 2024, in which the minister was highlighting challenges workers face in Sierra Leone.

Lawyer Drucil Taylor, representing Octea Mining Company has argued at the appeal court in Freetown that the Marginalized Affected Property Owners (MAPOA) of Tankoro and Gbense Chiefdoms in Kono district consented and agreed to the adverse effects of the mining activity in their communities.

Taylor forwarded this argument at the appeal court on the 11^th July 2024 in Freetown.

The recent media frenzy around one of the leading commercial banks in Sierra Leone appears to have died down following the release of a report by the Anti-Corruption Commission following a rather lengthy investigation into alleged wrongdoing in the procurement of vehicles for the bank.
