Rokel Bank staff tampered with deceased account, witness tells court

A Prosecution Witness at a Magistrate Court in Freetown has testified that the first accused, Mohamed Arafat S. Munda, in an ongoing alleged bank fraud at the Rokel Commercial Bank, did tamper with the bank account of a deceased, Musa Kanteh.

Munda is incriminated along with two others, 32-year-old Mohamed Munda Tarleh who is an agent of Rokel Commercial Bank SIM Korpor Mobile Application System, and 30-year-old Businessman, Edison Brima Mohamed as the second and third accused persons respectively.

Bo City fights street trading

The Bo City Council is pressing on with an operation to clear street traders from the Central Business District of the City.

The Communication Officer of the Council told Politico that the ongoing operation has the support of stakeholders including executive members of the Sierra Leone Traders Union, Civil Society Organizations, the Sierra Leone Police, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, and the Road Safety Corps.

Sierra Leone to ban street SIM card sales

The Director General of National Telecommunication Authority (Natca), Amara Brewah, has revealed the authority’s plans to ban the sale of Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards on the Streets of Sierra Leone, saying that it was a security concern.

Brewah made this pronouncement at the weekly government news conference organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education at the Foreign Affairs Ministry on the 26th of September this year.

Sierra Leone Police officers in Rwanda for child protection training

Two senior Police Officers from Sierra Leone have joined counterparts and civil society representatives from other African Countries for Specialized Child Protection Training in Rwanda.

Chief Superintendents Hawa Koloneh Conteh and Zainab Mbalu Gbla are being trained alongside those from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Sudan, Uganda, and host country Rwanda for the 5 days training from 25th -29th September, 2023.

Information Minister wants state broadcaster as top broadcaster
