Former head coach of the male national football team has marked the end of his contract with Leone Stars with an emotional open letter to the SLFA, the National Sports Authority, the squad and fans.
John Keister described his journey with the national team “extraordinary”, filled with “unforgettable moments, remarkable achievements, and invaluable lessons each of which has left an indelible mark on my coaching career”.
He expressed appreciation to his players because, according to him, they poured their hearts and souls into the game throughout his time as head coach. He said their “unshakeable dedication, unwavering resilience, and commitment to excellence have been truly inspiring”. Keister said: “witnessing your growth as athletes and individuals has been the most rewarding aspect of my coaching experience. I am truly proud of the progress we have made and the triumphs we have celebrated together”.
He also expressed gratitude to his staff for their support, expertise, and tireless efforts behind the scenes and that their “collective knowledge and strategic guidance in the team's potential have been instrumental in all their successes” and that he was proud to say that they have built “a culture of unity, discipline, and sportsmanship, setting a solid foundation for future achievements”.
He also thanked supporters for their passionate cheers, unwavering support, and undying belief in the team, be it on overseas tours, qualifying to the Nations Cup and much more, saying that the presence of fans on the sidelines, in the stands, and in their hearts has been an incredible source of motivation and strength.
Coach Keister expressed confidence that the future holds boundless possibilities for the team and urged everyone to embrace the challenges that lie ahead and let the passion for the game drive everyone towards continued success for the Leone Stars.
