The Chairman of SALCAB Sorie Fofana in a bid to dispel rumours on social media giving varied accounts of events surrounding SALCAB, has issued a statement clarifying issues about the institution.
There has been an unbundling process at the entity and the release says the 78 workers will continue to receive their salaries for the months of April and May , after which their engagements with SALCAB will be terminated at the end of May 2021.
The workers have been assured of all entitlements including end of service benefits and accrued allowances for rent and leave as well as end of service benefits.
It has been revealed that a new Public Private Partnership company will eventually be set up . However prior to that an interim body will be put in place that will manage the terrestrial telecoms network for three months.
The statement gave an assurance of possible "re _ engagement by the new PPP company" of some of the affected SALCAB staff members.
It was also mentioned that the Ministry of Information and Communication will update the public about the process in due course. It could be recalled tha the unbundling of SALCAB began late last year . 22 of its members of staff were recruited by Zoodlabs a private telecoms service provider.
