Construction company donates to Ministry of Development

The construction company, Societe Generale Fella Construction Company (SOGEFEL), has donated Le85million worth of goods to the Ministry of Planning and Development to fight the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The items which include soap, buckets and chlorine, was donated to the ministry on Wednesday, They entail 300 veronica buckets of 50 and 12 litres in sizes with the rubber stools; 100 cartons of carbolic and liquid soap and chlorine, among others, worth over Le85million,” according to a statement from the ministry.

SOGEFEL’s Project Manager, Alieu Shaybu, said the donation is part of their corporate social responsibility and was also meant to complement the government’s effort in the fight against the virus.

“The donation is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility in ensuring that we provide the necessary support to fight against the COVID-19. Our company has instituted measures such as promoting frequent hand washing and social distancing in order to prevent the spread of the virus,” Shaybu said. 

Whiles receiving the items, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Francis Mustapha Kai-Kai, thanked the company for the gesture; noting that the donation is going to help the country in the fight against COVID-19, especially in respecting health protocols of hand washing and social distancing, both privately and publicly. 

“The items would be adequately distributed among members of staff and the rest would be sent to the Emergency Response Centre on COVID-19 and to the District Response Centers to curb the spread of COVID-19,” Dr Kai-Kai said.
